Here's a strategy that's worked for me (and my clients!) to get more interviews with schools:
Try this targeted approach:
✅ Create your school wishlist - Research 10-15 schools you'd genuinely love to work at.
✅ Find the right people - Look up the Principal, Deputy Principal, and Faculty Heads/Coordinators for your subject area on LinkedIn.
✅ Make a genuine connection - Send a connection request with a personal note. "I love how your school [specific program/initiative] aligns with my teaching philosophy of [your authentic perspective]." Show you've done your homework by checking out the school website and mentioning something specific.
✅ Build the relationship - After connecting, share what drew you to their school. Maybe it's their innovative STEM program or their amazing performing arts achievements. Be specific and sincere.
✅ Express interest naturally - Let them know you'd love to be part of their team if an opportunity arises. No resume attachment - keep it conversational!
✅ Pro tip: Let the relationship develop organically. Only share your resume when they ask for it.
I've seen so many teachers land their dream roles this way. It's about building genuine connections, not just sending hundreds of online applications.
